Moon Over Venice was painted of the first night I spent in Venice. It was a hot summer evening with a fabulous full moon, musicians playing in Saint Marco's Square, the sleepy gondolas softly rocking on the waves and a young woman gazing across at the ancient view.

Painted en plein aire my first morning in Venice. It was due to be a sweltering July day but I rose just after dawn to beat the crowds. Not a soul was stirring and then, slowing the city woke up as the vendors started to set up and the first ferries arrived.
